Rapid weight loss can be noticed during the third phase of HIV infection. This phase is actually referred to as full blown AIDS. This is a very critical stage and the virus attacks the immune system within two or three years of the symptoms settling in. When you are in this stage, you experience speedy weight loss without any diet or exercise. Other symptoms include chronic fatigue, lasting diarrhea, serious mouth sores and genitals sores as well. You may also find blisters on the skin and several patients also have to deal with extended dry cough and chronic pneumonia.
